EA CEO says we don’t care about DRM

The CEO of EA doesn’t seem to take the public outcry against DRM seriously. That’s not really a good public relations strategy. I guess he’ll have to see EA sales slip further before he’ll consider acknowledging, the people posting one star reviews on Amazon.

Here’s the article: 99.8% of gamers don’t care about drm

New Macbooks

October 14th was a good day for Mac fans with the release of the updated macbooks. The 17 inch didn’t see any love, rumor sites say they found some troubles in the lab with them. Too bad. The 15 inch models got some love, no blu-ray because of licensing issues, and no price drop, and no tablet, those rumors all turned out to be false.

The new design looks nice and the updated graphics are nice. I’m ready for an upgrade. Going from a powerbook to a macbook was not the best move. My laptop is my primary machine, so the macbook was a tad slow and became cramped for space very quickly. The minute I started podcasting it was not enough machine for the job.

Curious update from Blizzard

So I patched to 3.0.2 and I’m a little curious about the version number and the fact that the GUI is now re-branded to Wrath of the Lich King.  Did I miss something here?  Do I not need to shell out another $40 to get the update?

My realms are all down but it looks like the death knight class is available on the create a character page and a bunch of Wrath stuff is in the patch notes.  I wonder how this is gonna work out…

Subnetting homework and grades

The subnetting homework file is posted in the forums.  Use the resources I talked about in episode 5 of the lecture cast.  When in doubt, google is your friend.  Don’t forget to ask me questions as well.

I’m all caught up as far as grades go, so if you are missing something in Blackboard, it’s because I don’t have it or didn’t get it.  After the break turn in anything you want me to grade.

A milestone in my professional career

I have been with Vermont Technical College longer than any other employer in my entire professional career.  I hit the six and a half year mark with the culmination of this semester.  I have worked with teams of folks longer, but we’d always leave one organization en masse for another with a mission that fit our talents and desires.  Vermont Tech was a solo mission for me and it’s the one that I have stuck with the longest.

Save the Amani War Bear!

With the impending release of Wraith of the Lick King, many of us are saddened by the removal of the Amani War Bear mount.  Blizzard posted that the bear mount was a reward for players who accomplished the feat of the timed quest through Zul’Aman.  They say that leaving the bear mount in the game after the level cap will diminish the meaning of the mount.

I can see their point, but how about changing the color or the armor on the bear?  Make a cosmetic distinction between the old school war bear mount and the one that drops after the level cap is increased.  That way players (like me) who are on the cusp of 70 and have no real chance of getting the bear before the 13th of November can still get a bear mount, just not THE bear mount.
